EuroTempest’s first Subsidence Risk Assessment for 2025 indicates that, despite the below-average rainfall in the early months, the overall outlook for subsidence claims in the UK is expected to be average, but still remains uncertain.

Forecasts suggest an average amount of rainfall over the next three months, where a dry spring does not necessarily mean there will be a dry summer.

Years with similar rainfall to date have had a wide range of outcomes. Some years had above-average rainfall and low numbers of subsidence claims. Other years, such as 2003, had a particularly dry extended period and experienced high numbers of subsidence claims. The rest of the comparison years had around average subsidence claims.
