Tropical Storm Risk’s early May, extended range forecast for Northwest Pacific typhoon activity in 2025 anticipates a season with below-norm activity.
According to TSR’s predictions, the Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index is expected to be 266, with 8 intense typhoons, 15 typhoons, and 25 tropical storms anticipated for the year.
Although sizable uncertainties remain and the forecast skill at this range is historically low, TSR anticipates there is only a 25% likelihood that Northwest
Pacific ACE in 2025 will be above the 1991-2020 climate norm.
