Tropical Storm Risk’s (TSR) August seasonal forecast suggests that the Northwest Pacific typhoon activity will be comparable to the average of the 20% quietest seasons over the period 1965-2023.

According to TSR’s predictions, the Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index is expected to be 177, with 6 intense typhoons, 14 typhoons, and 24 tropical storms anticipated for the year.

However, TSR note significant uncertainties in these forecasts due to the unpredictable nature of ENSO developments and the inherent variability in seasonal typhoon activity.
