The fourth and final EuroTempest Seasonal Forecast Assessment for January through March 2025 indicates an increased likelihood of dry and calm conditions in southern Europe, while Scandinavia may experience wetter and windier weather during this period.
Seasonal forecast models suggest stronger-than-normal westerly winds over Scandinavia, and weaker-than-normal westerly winds across southern Europe. Precipitation is expected to be below average in southern Europe and above average in Scandinavia, with no clear signal for northern Europe. Temperatures are likely to be warmer than the long-term average across the continent.
The forecast also notes potential variability due to climate signals, such as the expected development of high pressure over northern Europe, which could lead to more settled conditions, but with possible wet and windy interludes. The extended outlook into February lacks dominant signals, suggesting no clear weather pattern is expected to prevail.
